Church of the Disciples. New York City
Unidentified photographer
Photograph date: ca. 1875
Building date: 1873
Notes: The New York Historical Society owns another copy of this
print, which is dated 1875. "The many-towered Church of the Disciples
on Madison Avenue at the souteast corner of 45th Street was a
heavenly respite from the train shed of Grand Central (far left)
and the splendor of Grand Central Station (far right). This view
was taken by an unidentified photographer while the church, dedicated
in 1873, was still new." (Source: Mary Black. Old New York
