John
Hay and Henry Adams purchased adjoining lots on Lafayette
Square in Washington, D. C., and commissioned H. H. Richardson
to build their homes. After Hays death, the house was
demolished and the property was purchased by the developer
Harry Wardman in 1927. The Hay-Adams Hotel now occupies the
two lots, on the corner of H and 16th Streets, in the District
of Columbia.
